Paradox Ties-up with the Legendary Indian Football Captain Baichung Bhutia

Mumbai, April 21st, 2006: India’s premier game development company Paradox today announced their alliance with the legendary football star Baichung Bhutia and Total Sports and entertainment India (TSEIPL), the agency representing the dynamic football captain. Paradox signed a two-year exclusive worldwide contract to create Mobile game titles based on the popular football icon. The games are scheduled to release across the leading networks in the Indian market.

Winner of the prestigious Arjuna award, Bhutia is today the only Indian footballer to have played professional club soccer in England. He has spent three seasons with second division club F.C. Bury besides a short stint with Malaysia’s Perek and MK Land. Currently playing for the renowned East Bengal Club, the striker has scored over 200 goals in his professional career. Often dubbed as ‘Maradona of Indian Football’, the football captain enjoys an immense fan following in India.

Going by the increasing popularity of Mobile games and the mass appeal that Baichung Bhutia has in the country, the games will definitely prove to be a huge success in the Indian market. These games will be an exciting mix of strategy, skill and speed and will even feature some of Bhutia’s signature moves for football fans. Commenting on the games, the ace footballer says, “Football is a high-action game and it’ll be great to see it going Mobile. I saw some of the games that Paradox has created and they’re great. I am looking forward to my affiliation with them as they recreate the thrill and action of the field on to the Mobile platform.”

On the alliance, Salil Bhargava, CEO of Paradox said, “Baichung Bhutia is perhaps the only player in Indian football history to gain such a star status. He is one of the most prominent sporting icons in India and we look forward to a dynamic association with him and TSEIPL. With India on its way to becoming a hotbed for the Wireless platform, sports-based Mobile games are particularly gaining a huge popularity with the audiences. Paradox, as an organisation, is committed to offer top-notch content to them.”

On this occasion, Navneet Sharma, Managing Director (Indian Subcontinent – Middle East), Total Sports & Entertainment India Pvt.
