Jaime Chico Pardo Joins AT&T Board of Directors

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that Jaime Chico Pardo will join the company’s board of directors. Mr. Chico is chairman of Teléfonos de México, S.A.B. de C.V. (Telmex). He will serve on the AT&T board’s audit committee.

“Jaime is a seasoned telecommunications leader and strong addition to our board of directors,” said Randall Stephenson, chairman and chief executive officer of AT&T Inc. “His vision and experience transforming Telmex into a global technology and multimedia company combined with his international management expertise and strategic insight will benefit AT&T as we deliver innovative solutions to customers globally and pursue new growth opportunities.”

Mr. Chico was appointed to his current position in 2006 as chairman of Telmex and co-chairman of IDEAL, a publicly listed company that invests and manages infrastructure assets in Latin America. Before then, he was vice chairman and CEO of Telmex, a position he held since 1995. Before joining Telmex, he was chairman and CEO of Grupo Condumex S.A. de C.V.; CEO of Euzkadi/General Tire of México; and operating partner of Fimbursa, an investment bank.

Mr. Chico is also chairman of Carso Global Telecom, S.A.B. de C.V., and serves on the boards of América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V.; Grupo Carso, S.A.B. de C.V.; and CICSA, which are all affiliates of Telmex. He also serves on the board of Honeywell International, Inc. and Mexico City’s Children’s Museum and is chairman of the America Council of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Chico holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

AT&T holds a 9.5 percent ownership position in Telmex and an 8.3 percent ownership position in América Móvil. John Stephens, senior vice president and controller for AT&T Inc., is a member of the board of directors of both companies. Ray Wilkins Jr., group president of Diversified Businesses for AT&T Inc., is a member of the board of directors of América Móvil. Larry Boyle, executive director-Financial Analysis for AT&T Inc., is a member of the board of directors of Telmex.
