Scottish Provincial Press Orders 2 KODAK TRENDSETTER NEWS Thermal Platesetters and 2 KODAK PRINERGY Evo workflow systems at IPEX

Scottish Provincial Press (SPP), publisher of 16 regional newspapers in Scotland, including The Inverness Courier, The Northern Scot, The Ross-shire Journal and The Highland News, has placed an order with Kodak worth nearly £400,000 at Ipex 2006. The company had been looking for the right equipment for some time, and is confident it will improve the quality of the papers and achieve increased productivity through higher throughput of plates. The order also includes KODAK THERMALNEWS Plates, a Nela punch/plate bender and 2 Kodak MERCURY News 135 processors.

Neil MacLennan, Prepress Systems Manager at SPP: “What really impressed us the most was the TRENDSETTER NEWS thermal platesetter product. It has been tried and tested in the field, and its laser technology is extremely stable. As a newspaper printer reliability is the absolute key factor when we purchase new equipment, as downtime is just not an option in our business. With the PRINERGY Evo System we will streamline our production workflow and make significant cost and time savings going forward.” SPP is based in Inverness and employs approximately ca. 275 people. The group covers the largest geographical area in Britain with its portfolio of regional newspapers.
