GoAir aims at number one slot in LCC segment

GoAir , ‘The People’s Airline’ today shared its plans geared towards claiming the Number 1 slot in the Low Cost Carrier space in India. With its recent order of 20 A320 family aircraft and the overwhelming success of its customer awareness campaign titled “The GoAir Challenge”, GoAir is hard set at capturing growing passenger loads in India. The success of the Challenge reiterates GoAir’s position as the premier low cost carrier in the country today.

Addressing a press conference in the city, Mr. Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir, said “GoAir has since its maiden flight (which was incidentally to the city of Tirupathi) been providing top of the line services to the sectors we service which has resulted in an amazing growth in load factors on all our flights on all sectors we fly on. We are also pleased to offer our customers’ on-time and punctual service with an on time flight record of 96%. We now operate our fleet of Airbus A320s covering 13 cities with a total of 28 daily flights with Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi being the latest additions to our list of cities serviced.

GoAir also revealed that they will have 5 additional aircraft in operation by the yearend and their target number is 33 by the end of 2008. This comes behind GoAir’s recently placed order with the Airbus Industrie at Singapore last month. GoAir has ambitious plans for the south and equally high expectations of the region. Mr.Jeh Wadia added, “South Indian economies are vibrant and GoAir is keen to provide service to this region. We connect Hyderabad to Bangalore and Chennai. We also fly on key routes such as Chennai-Pune, Mumbai-Cochin and Mumbai-Coimbatore. We have also recently introduced daily flights linking Chennai and Delhi daily.”
