Core Facts
http://www.lastingtribute.co.uk/, the UK’s leading online memorial website, has been given a fresh look, with a new feature enabling people to link directly to videos.
For the first time, people who have set up tributes can add links to footage that has been uploaded to You Tube – although Lasting Tribute’s dedicated team will continue to monitor links so that nothing offensive or inappropriate will be viewed.
The new tabbed design will enable visitors to easily navigate the site and find content. People will still need to register to add video clips or any other content to the website, but it remains a free service.
Some examples of tributes with video already added include Leading Aircraftman Martin Beard; rally driver Colin McRae; Pink Floyd members Richard Wright and Syd Barrett and footballer George Best.
Quotes
Elaine Pritchard, from Lasting Tribute, commented: “As more and more people each week visit the site and add their memories and images to more than a million tributes, we felt it was time to re-design those tributes and create separate sections for memories, images and now videos.
“We recognise the need to monitor the tributes, the messages and the videos so that no offence or distress is caused to people whose loved ones have died. It’s something that makes us different and something we are committed to.”
