2008 AFP Annual Conference
On Sunday October 19, Brink’s will offer a sneak peek at the newest member of its CompuSafe® Service family of safes: the Brink’s CompuSafe with Check Imaging. By integrating image capture technology into the Brink’s CompuSafe closed-loop process, Brink’s enables one-stop check imaging at the point of sale to eliminate manual check handling and accelerate cash flow.
One step, that’s all it takes to process a check with the new Brink’s CompuSafe with Check Imaging. Cashiers simply insert checks into the safe’s imaging feeder, just as they insert currency into the safe’s high-speed bill acceptor today. The safe automatically captures the check amount, date, and other information, right at the point of sale, for transmission to the bank.
“Combining check imaging capabilities with our CompuSafe solution was the next logical step forward in creating a robust payment management solution for retailers. The all-in-one convenience of the Brink’s CompuSafe with Check Imaging makes image capture easy, fast, and secure,” says Fred Purches, senior vice president of strategic solutions and product development. “It reduces human handling, which improves accuracy and efficiency, and virtually eliminates the security and fraud risks associated with check payments.”
In addition to streamlining in-store payment processing, Brink’s CompuSafe with Check Imaging allows retailers to take advantage of Brink’s Daily Credit, a service that gives retailers daily access to their cash receipts before physical pick up. Working with participating financial institutions across the U.S., Brink’s facilitates credit based on the CompuSafe unit’s electronically reported totals, transforming cash deposits into accessible funds overnight. In addition, retailers enjoy a substantial cost savings as Brink’s Daily Credit allows them to schedule cash pick-ups at a frequency appropriate for each location without sacrificing the timeliness of deposits.
“Our retail customers rely on Brink’s CompuSafe to protect their cash while delivering operational benefits throughout the cash flow process,” says Purches. “Now the same protection and added value of Brink’s CompuSafe Service can apply to check payments. It’s another example of our technology leadership and our commitment to helping retailers transition from paper to image processing so they can take advantage of the efficiencies and cost savings created by Check 21 legislation.”
