Hyundai & KPIT Cummins announce successful AUTOSAR implementation

Seoul, South Korea & Pune, India/October 23, 2008: South Korea based Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Autonet and India based KPIT Cummins today announced successful implementation of an AUTOSAR based ECU. In this joint advanced research project, the complete AUTOSAR stack has been implemented in a complex electronic control unit (chassis) and successfully tested in a vehicle.

Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Autonet and KPIT Cummins commenced on this co-development program about a year back. The AUTOSAR BSW (Basic Software Stack) was jointly developed, integrated and implemented on a Chassis ECU which was powered by the NEC Electronics’ V850 ES/FJ3 microcontroller. The vehicle level testing including extensive road-tests were successfully performed at Hyundai Motor Company’s Namyang R & D Facility in Korea. The performance was noted to be very satisfactory and suitable for production-intent programs. The software development was done using KPIT Cummins proven development methodology and by complying with CMMi Level 5 and AUTOMOTIVE SPICE Level 5 processes.

This success is a significant milestone for Hyundai in its pursuit of global leadership, technology excellence and a firm commitment to emerging automotive standards. For KPIT Cummins it is a re-endorsement of its capability to build world class software products for the automotive industry.

The success further strengthens the partnership between Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Autonet and KPIT Cummins in taking on the challenges for advanced research & technology Initiatives for Next Generation cars.
