Sprint Expands Nationwide Roaming Agreement with Alltel

Sprint (NYSE: S) today announced a renewal and expansion of a reciprocal nationwide roaming agreement with Alltel that enhances customer access to each other’s wireless networks. The new 10-year agreement is effective July 1, 2006, and encompasses CDMA voice, data and EV-DO high-speed mobile data services.

“The new agreement expands our current voice and data roaming relationship while providing customers greater access to services in more places,” said Len Lauer, chief operating officer for Sprint. “Our technology alignment ensures an improved seamless roaming experience for text messaging, call/messaging notification and mobile broadband services.”

The Sprint PCS nationwide network has grown to become one of the nation’s largest all-digital wireless networks covering over 250 million people, including affiliates. The high-speed Sprint Power VisionSM network is the nation’s largest with coverage for over 150 million people in 220 communities and 470 airports across the country. By the end of the year, the Alltel deal is expected to significantly increase the area where Sprint customers can use their Sprint Power Vision services. No other carrier has a more powerful network in terms of delivering services and products to its customers.
