“Jim Stengel” Seeks to Ignite a Movement to Rethink Marketing and Branding;

Hopes to Serve as an Industry Catalyst for Focus on Purpose and Performance

Former global marketing officer for Procter & Gamble, launches his post-P&G venture “Jim Stengel, LLC” on November 1, 2008. The new venture is both a think tank and consultancy that conducts proprietary research, generates thought leadership, and applies a new framework to drive business growth in today’s global economy.

“At P&G, I experienced first-hand the amazing results that occur when a brand and its marketers are inspired by a deep sense of purpose,” says Stengel. “I’ve made it my personal mission to be a global catalyst and change agent to help improve marketing performance by focusing on purpose. The goal of ‘Jim Stengel’ the company is to accelerate a movement to deeply rethink and transform the roles and meaning of marketing and branding.”

Cincinnati continues to be the base of operations for Stengel; however, he plans to have a global presence via three initial areas of activity:
Writing a book on how to discover brand purpose and lift marketing performance
Consulting with business leaders looking to rethink their marketing and branding approach to step-change performance and energize their organization
Speaking in global venues to inspire like-minded business leaders and marketers to “join the movement” to rethink marketing and branding

Stengel also looks forward to collaborating with a leading academic institution to further develop this new marketing framework, conduct research and create teaching opportunities to advance this approach. Beyond this academic initiative, he will collaborate with like-minded leaders to advance this movement, including work already underway to establish a purpose-based marketing institute with Roy Spence, president of Austin, Texas-based agency GSD&M Idea City.
