CEA Congratulates Senator Obama on His Presidential Election Victory

Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) President and CEO Gary Shapiro issued the following statement regarding Senator Barack Obama’s presidential election victory:

“We congratulate President-elect Obama on his victory and applaud his innovative digital campaign. At a time of unprecedented challenges to our nation, CEA appreciates the President-elect’s embracing of technology in creating opportunity, growing our economy and creating jobs.”

“We urge the President-elect to focus on strengthening our economy. We believe the best way to move the economy forward is to support the companies creating jobs, increase product exports and open foreign markets. We encourage the new Administration to recognize the importance of free trade and to immediately call on Congress to pass the pending free trade agreements for Colombia, Panama and South Korea.”

“We look forward to working with President-elect Obama to find innovative new ways to protect our environment through such measures as a national approach for recycling and energy efficiency.”

“We look forward to working with the President-elect, his new Administration and Congress to ensure a strong and prosperous United States.”
