UPEK Announces Support for Windows Biometric Framework on Windows 7

UPEK has integrated its biometric hardware and Protector Suite software with the new Windows Biometric Framework included in Windows 7, Microsoft is demonstrating this capability at WinHEC 2008

UPEK®, Inc., the global leader in biometric fingerprint security solutions, today announced that it has been working closely with Microsoft Corp. to support the new Windows Biometric Framework that is being introduced in Windows 7 and previewed at WinHEC 2008 at the Los Angeles Conference Center during November 5-7. The integration is being demonstrated to thousands of attendees with UPEK’s award winning best of class Protector Suite® software and Eikon® USB fingerprint reader.

UPEK is working to develop their biometric hardware alongside Windows 7 development. UPEK will support solutions embedded in future Windows 7 notebooks, as well as within millions of existing UPEK enabled notebooks and Eikon USB peripherals that will support Windows 7. UPEK believes the Windows Biometric Framework will drive the adoption of fingerprint biometrics among Windows users and will increase the number of applications leveraging biometric technology.
