CEW APAC 2008
EANTC AG (European Advanced Networking Test Center) and ten participating vendors today announced the opening of the first public Carrier Ethernet multi-vendor interoperability test in the Asia-Pacific region at Carrier Ethernet World APAC Congress 2008 in Singapore, November 12-14, 2008. The participating vendors have verified that their Carrier Ethernet solutions support triple play, mobile backhaul and business services using Carrier Ethernet E-Line, E-LAN and E-Tree services.
The vendors participating at this event, Alcatel-Lucent, ECI Telecom, Ericsson, Harris Stratex Networks, Ixia, Juniper Networks, Nortel, Spirent Communications, Tejas Networks, and Tellabs, created a single large multi-vendor backbone, metro and access network to facilitate any-to-any interoperability testing.
“Carrier Ethernet service deployments are rapidly taking up speed in many Asia Pacific countries – Carrier Ethernet solutions are well positioned for the large-scale, broadband service provider networks in the region,” said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director at EANTC. “The participating vendors successfully verified high availability and fault management test scenarios, proving that their solutions are ready for deployment in today’s heterogeneous service provider networks.”
The live event at IIR’s Carrier Ethernet World APAC Congress in Singapore includes a network of more than 30 systems and provides proof-of-concept for network operators who want to migrate and utilize next-generation Carrier Ethernet services. During the two-week hot staging event at EANTC in August 2008, realistic multi-vendor test combinations were verified in 20 different areas focusing on all aspects of end-to-end Carrier Ethernet networks.
Video and gaming applications were set up to verify that the network can carry high quality end user data. A 12-page white paper with detailed findings is available for download from http://www.eantc.com/cew_apac2008.
