Louisiana is the latest state to recognize Classworks™ – published by Curriculum Advantage Inc. – as a key component for effective differentiated instruction and increased student achievement. The Louisiana Association of School Executives welcomes Classworks to Louisiana as they partner with schools across the state for increased student success.
Classworks, computer-based instructional software for English/Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics and Science, helps K-12 schools deliver standards-based differentiated instruction, remediation, Response to Intervention solutions, and increased test scores. Their approach is unique because of the state specific emphasis as well as the partnerships forged with each school utilizing Classworks’ computer assisted instruction.
Classworks is the only instructional solution that reads Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) and iLEAP (integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program) data and automatically customizes instruction for each student based on their results. Additionally, Classworks customizes specific editions for each new state, fine-tuning the instruction to meet specific curriculum and learning standard requirements.
“Using Classworks, Covington Elementary School has succeeded in enriching the education of our students. We are excited about the continuing collaboration because Classworks is one of the best programs available,” said Laurie Casserta, a resource teacher at Covington Elementary School in St Tammany Parish.
Dr. Frank Fudesco, a thirty-year educator in Louisiana and former Superintendent of Terrebonne Parish, leads the Louisiana Classworks team. Dr. Fudesco reviewed the key challenges facing students and teachers across the state and determined that Classworks can significantly impact student achievement in Louisiana while helping ease the administrative burdens teachers are facing.
“Classworks import capabilities with the LEAP scores are too powerful of a tool not to be considered for any school district in Louisiana with struggling students,” noted Dr. Fudesco. “At the same time, the content and self paced structure is perfect for use with all gifted classrooms.”
Classworks efficacy has been recognized through district successes, independent research conducted through Johns Hopkins and the U.S. Department of Education, as well as with a wide array of school level gains and successes. Most recently Classworks released the PASS (Preparing All Students for Success) implementation model designed to ensure a successful transition to high school and beyond.
