New Xerox Software Reduces Copyright Worries for Print Providers

Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has enhanced its industry-leading FreeFlowâ„¢ Digital Workflow Collection with software that helps print providers ensure that printed and copied material they produce, such as articles, textbook excerpts and other documents, do not violate copyright laws.

The new FreeFlow copyright management solution transforms what used to be a labor- and time-intensive process into an automated, cost-effective transaction. Securing copyright clearance is a responsibility shared by corporate libraries, educational institutions, college bookstores, and the print providers that support these entities. The process, when completed manually, often generates errors, cumbersome record-keeping and unnecessary costs.

Xerox’s integration with Copyright Clearance Center, the world’s largest licensing agent of text reproduction rights located in Danvers, Mass., allows print providers to quickly and efficiently gain copyright clearance. The FreeFlow software links directly into Copyright Clearance Center’s extensive rights licensing database. The Xerox copyright management solution is an option within FreeFlowâ„¢ Makeready, software that streamlines the set-up of a print job, such as layout, page formatting and editing.
