Nallatech, the domain expert in accelerated FPGA computing solutions today announced that the Nallatech BenONE series of PCI Express FPGA accelerator cards has been qualified for the HP ProLiant DL160 G5 server. This is a significant development as the Nallatech product is the first PCIe based FPGA accelerator qualified in the HP HPC accelerator program for use in HP ProLiant servers.
By using Nallatech FPGA-based accelerators in HP ProLiant servers, customers can dramatically improve application response time with performance on selected applications increasing more than a factor of ten. This combination also significantly reduces energy, space and overall costs.
The Nallatech BenONE-PCIe series of accelerators provides users with a Xilinx user FPGA directly coupled to multiple banks of local SRAM and SDRAM memory. This processing node is attached via an 8-lane PCI Express host interface capable of up to 2GB/s aggregate host bandwidth. This platform provides customers with a powerful and flexible co-processor ideal for FPGA application development and deployment. It is supplied with support for the Intel QuickAssist Accelerator Abstraction Layer (AAL) software, drivers, IP cores and reference designs.
Nallatech is showcasing PCI Express accelerators featuring Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA technology at Supercomputing 2008, November 15-21 in Austin, Texas. Attendees visiting the HP booth (#1518) will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm running on the Nallatech BenONE-PCIe FPGA accelerator integrated in a HP ProLiant DL160 G5 server. FPGA experts from Nallatech will be available to answer questions and explain the benefits and capabilities of FPGA accelerators.
“The BenONE-PCIe has generated an unprecedented level of interest from our customer base since its launch late last year,” said Allan Cantle, Founder and President of Nallatech. “The integration of the BenONE-PCIe in HP ProLiant servers provides customers with a commercially available PCI Express platform capable of accelerating a wide range of compute intensive applications while reducing overall power consumption.”
“Businesses can lower their total cost of ownership through HPC hardware accelerators that improve application performance per watt and per data center square foot,” said Ed Turkel, product and technology marketing manager, Scalable Computing and Infrastructure Organization, HP. “As a participator in the HP Accelerator Program, Nallatech FPGAs can leverage high-performance HP ProLiant servers to accelerate data intensive applications such those used in scientific research and security.”
