RCN Customers Gain Access to The Best Live European Sports Coverage Including Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League & Six Nations Rugby Union

RCN Corporation, a leading provider of all digital television, high capacity data, and voice services to residential, business customers and service providers, announced today that it will launch Setanta Sports, the 24-hour television station providing access to the best live European sporting events, including top flight soccer and world class rugby, on November 30, 2008.

Setanta Sports will give RCN customers access to the world’s most watched sporting events such as the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, French Lique 1, Guinness Premiership, Heineken European Cup, Six Nations and much more. It will air on channel 549 in all of RCN’s service areas that have been converted to the company’s all-digital network, including the areas of Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC Metro, Philadelphia, PA and New York, NY. Ultimately, all RCN subscribers will be part of the company’s all-digital network. Setanta Sports will cost $14.95/month.

“Setanta Sports is a tremendous addition to our current international sports programming, given the extreme popularity of soccer among our customers. We’re very excited about bringing this exclusive soccer and rugby coverage to our customers,” said Senior Vice President, Strategic and External Affairs & Programming Richard Ramlall. “Unlike Comcast and Time Warner, RCN will offer Setanta in all of its Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, and Chicago markets. RCN will provide our digital customers with arm chair access to the games the world is talking about.”

RCN digital customers in those areas will be able to get a free peek at Setanta’s exclusive live soccer and rugby coverage and other programs when RCN offers a Freeview from December 8 through December 22, 2008.

Roger Hall, Managing Director of Setanta Sports International, stated, “Partnering with RCN allows us to reach our fans in some of the largest cities in the US. We are delighted to provide them with a premier 24 hours a day, international sports channel.”
