ISLANDIA, N.Y., May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — CA, Inc. (NYSE: CA – News) today announced an offer to provide Microsoft Windows Vista Beta customers a no-charge, one-year trial subscription to CA’s eTrust EZ Antivirus. The distribution has the potential to reach millions of projected Windows Vista Beta 2 customers and can be downloaded starting today at: http://ca.com/windowsvistabeta.

“We’re pleased to join forces with Microsoft once again to provide their customers with our eTrust EZ Antivirus at no-charge,” said David Luft, senior vice president of Product Development at CA. “As the world awaits the roll-out of Windows Vista, we have been busy readying our consumer security software products to support the Windows Vista platform. We are thrilled to be able to offer an early version of our eTrust EZ Antivirus to provide Windows Vista Beta customers with critical virus protection.”

“Microsoft is committed to helping customers secure their PCs as they put Windows Vista Beta 2 through the paces,” said Mike Sievert, corporate vice president, Windows Client Marketing at Microsoft. “In order to enable a positive testing experience with Beta 2, it’s important that the right protections are in place. We’re pleased that CA is stepping forward to provide eTrust EZ Antivirus to our Beta 2 customers.”

The first malicious software (malware) to pose a threat to PC users dates back decades, with the creation of the first computer virus. While other online threats like spyware and spam have relatively recently joined the threat mix, malware, which includes viruses, worms and Trojan horses, continues to pose a serious problem for PC users. Since December 2005 through May 2006, CA’s research team has tracked an increase of nearly 100 percent in new malware. Regardless of this ever increasing threat, according to the 2005 AOL/National Cyber Security Association (NCSA) Online Safety Survey, 81 percent of home computers are still lacking core security protection, and 56 percent of home computers are lacking virus protection on their PCs.

All CA security software for home and home office users is backed by CA’s Security Advisor research team that researches and responds to global threats via a network of rapid response centers around the world, delivering the most comprehensive validated virus and vulnerability databases in the industry; clean-up utilities, detection signature files and remediation instructions for threats; and documentation on complete threat protection. The Security Advisor website, which monitors daily threat levels and lists all of the latest online threats, can be found at http://ca.com/securityadvisor.

eTrust EZ Antivirus for Windows Vista Beta 2 customers is currently available in English and will be available in German and Japanese on June 1, 2006. The limit is one free one-year trial subscription per household.
