Symantec ’s Consumer Business Reaches Milestone of 200 Million Norton Products Sold

Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced that its world renowned Internet security solutions have arrived at a remarkable milestone of 200 million Norton products sold. To celebrate this achievement, Symantec has selected a customer to represent all of the consumers around the world who have chosen Norton products 200 million times for their PC protection. Ken Mercier, a postal worker from Los Angeles, visited a Culver City, Calif. CompUSA store recently to purchase Norton Internet Security 2006 to secure his wife’s notebook computer. On the way out, he was selected by a Symantec representative to be the face of the 200 million milestone. Mercier, a longtime Norton product user, received a prize pack from Symantec and CompUSA worth more than $8,000. The prizes included a complete line of Norton security software, a notebook computer, two digital cameras, a 30GB video iPod and a variety of other exciting consumer electronics.

To further commemorate the feat, Symantec is thanking customers and partners by offering $10 off select Norton products via mail-in or instant rebate, depending upon the retailer, at the following locations during Memorial Day weekend: Amazon.com, Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry’s, Office Depot, OfficeMax, and Staples. Customers shopping at Buy.com, J&R, and Micro Center will receive 10 percent off select Norton products from May 27 through May 29, 2006.
