College Connect

An initiative by MphasiS

Partnering with Academia to prepare the future of Tomorrow, Today

New Delhi, December 17, 2008: As a growing company, MphasiS an EDS company is acutely aware of the gap between demand for skilled resources and the skills of fresh graduates. Organizations today want to recruit the best and the brightest, but often the skills required in a real project or at a workplace are not included in the curriculum. Through the College Connect program, MphasiS partners with Academia to bridge that gap and ensure a head-start for students.

Through this initiative, the company works with Engineering Colleges to help bridge the gap between academics and industry needs thereby creating talent that can be deployed on real time project work immediately.

College Connect currently has 6 college affiliations that span across India. Till date MphasiS has supported its college partners in various modes, including but not limited to:

- Sponsoring College Events through monetary and advisory means. They have provided funding as well as guidance on college festivals and competitions.

- Internships: Students from College Connect partners are given first preference for internships at our many offices across India and are also invited to work with our Innovation Office on new and niche product ideas.

- Certified Trainers: Faculty from College Connect partners are invited to our resident training academy where they undergo skills training from our Global Learning and Development team on various aspects of teaching and instruction delivery. Here, they also interact one-on-one with our senior leadership and participate in discussions for further collaboration.

- Recruitment: MphasiS is committed to the partners it identifies. Hence, the first colleges that are visited for recruitment are College Connect partners.

- Soft Skills Training: Through its Global Learning and Development team, MphasiS has conducted soft skills training for students at partner colleges at a critical time when students are gearing up for the recruitment season.

As the initiative progresses, the number of colleges and cities are being expanded widely with a focus on developing talent in country’s hinterland. In the second year of the program, MphasiS is opening up the application process to all Engineering Colleges across India.

Colleges that would like to be a part of College Connect should write in to college.connect {at} mphasis(.)com or log on to http://www.mphasis.com/CollegeConnect/index.htm.

“Through College Connect, we hope to further strengthen our ties with the academic community and reach out to a larger audience especially in Tier II and Tier III cities. We believe that this program will enhance academic curriculum with reality based industry requirements; thereby, helping build industry-ready talent,” said Elango R, Chief Human Resource Officer.
