SiS ’ solution ready for AMD’s transition to Socket AM2

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) is enthusiastic about working with AMD (NYSE: AMD) to help develop and support socket AM2 platforms. SiS and AMD value cooperation and the ability to work together on innovative technologies while building a close relationship. SiS is now poised to release a full line of solutions for the socket AM2 platform.

SiS proudly introduces its newly-released socket AM2 solutions supporting AMD Athlon™ 64 and AMD Sempron™ processors, including the AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-62 and AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 5000+ dual-core processors. Socket AM2 processors provide full support for advanced dual-channel DDR2 memory, to effectively enhance memory efficiency, to increase memory bandwidth and to enhance overall system performance. SiS’ latest chipsets for socket AM2: SiS756 and SiS761GX, represent the latest chipset offerings from SiS for desktop on AMD-processor based platforms.

SiS756 and SiS761GX chipsets fully support AMD Athlon 64 FX dual-core processors, AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors, AMD Athlon 64, and AMD Sempron processors. SiS756 is currently the most high-end desktop chipset from SiS for the AMD64 platform, while the integrated SiS761GX chipset includes the advanced MirageTM1 graphics core with software support for Microsoft’s DirectX 9.

“AMD has been working jointly with SiS for several years. We believe socket AM2 motherboards with SiS chipsets will be among the feature rich products on the market,” said Bob Brewer, corporate vice president, Desktop Division, AMD. “By supporting our reliable chipset partners, like SiS, we are confident that our socket AM2 platforms will enable customers to benefit from the amazing features socket AM2 introduces.”
