WANdisco Selects rPath to Reduce Application Delivery Cost and Complexity; How-to Webinar Discusses Strategies for Doing More With Less in a Down Economy
rPath and WANdisco today announced that WANdisco has selected the rPath rBuilder and rPath Lifecycle Management Platform to build and maintain its Subversion MultiSite solution as a manageable set of application images for delivery in virtualized and cloud-based environments. rPath is a leader and pioneer in solutions for reducing the cost and complexity of application delivery, and WANdisco is a leading provider of distributed software development solutions. As a result of this partnership, WANdisco’s Subversion MultiSite solution will be available as a virtual appliance, dramatically reducing deployment and maintenance costs and enabling resource-constrained IT organizations to “do more with less.” rPath and WANdisco will discuss practical strategies for doing more with less as part of an upcoming webinar in conjunction with AMR Research and Application Development Trends Magazine.
“Virtualization and cloud computing are important topics in IT organizations today because they promise a quick way to cut server costs without hurting the service provided to the business,” said Ian Finley, vice president of AMR Research. “However, moving to a virtualized environment is not simple, especially with packaged applications, because few are enabled for these environments today. WANdisco is making it easier for its customers to leverage virtualization and cut server costs. It’s also showing IT organizations how they can use rPath to do the same with their custom applications.”
How-to Advice on Doing More with Less
On January 22, rPath and WANdisco will present a webinar, “Doing More with Less: How to Reduce the Cost and Complexity of Enterprise Application Delivery in a Down Economy.” Featuring Ian Finley of AMR Research, this webinar will offer a practical roadmap for reducing the cost of deploying and maintaining complex enterprise applications, allowing IT organizations to stretch resources to do more with less. In addition, it will provide a decision framework for considering the tradeoffs between traditional and virtualized infrastructure and public and private clouds as deployment environments. This webinar will also feature James Campigli, CTO of WANdisco; Billy Marshall, co-founder and chief strategy officer of rPath; and a WANdisco enterprise customer who is actively reducing the cost and complexity of application delivery. “WANdisco is the perfect example of an innovative ISV that understands the value of virtualization and the cloud, leveraging these technologies to deliver increased value to their customers by enabling them to do more with less,” said rPath’s Marshall. “In an uncertain economic period, the ability to stretch resources and contain costs is critical. This is why we believe rPath will continue to play a central role in the deployment and management of applications in these environments.”
David Richards, president and CEO of WANdisco, said, “Subversion MultiSite is all about enabling high-speed, high-performance, collaborative development for distributed software teams by overcoming the effects of Wide Area Network latency. What rPath brings to the table is unmatched technology that helps us virtualize our applications for rapid delivery and low-cost maintenance. We believe this represents a perfect example of how virtual appliances can dramatically reduce the cost of deploying and maintaining even the most complex, component-based distributed architecture in traditional, virtualized and cloud environments.”
