Dell Drafts Vince Young for Tennessee Youth Technology Program

Dell and All-American quarterback turned Tennessee Titan Vince Young today announced that he will lend his support to Dell’s Middle Tennessee TechKnow program, an after-school curriculum that provides underserved middle-school students access to technology and 21st-century skills.

Mr. Young’s support and connection with the program, currently running in seven Metro Nashville Public Schools, will begin later this year. Young joined Dell CEO Kevin Rollins here today to discuss the association at a news conference with Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen announcing Dell’s intention to expand its Tennessee employment by up to 1,000 people.

Mr. Young, who volunteered at Austin-area elementary schools while a student and All-American quarterback for the University of Texas, will begin visiting students this fall at the seven Metro Nashville Public Schools that host the Dell TechKnow program. He’ll talk with them about the importance of technology and education in achieving their life goals.

“I’m enjoying becoming part of the Tennessee Titan family, and I’m excited to become an active part of the community,” Mr. Young said. “I’ve learned a lot about Dell’s TechKnow program and the impact it’s making on children, particularly here in Tennessee. I look forward to working with Dell to help these children learn new skills and build the confidence to set goals and work toward them.”
