Gradient Effects recently completed visual effects on the feature films World’s Greatest Dad, starring Academy Award winner Robin Williams, and The Informers, starring Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke and Academy Award winner Kim Basinger. Both films are premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City.

World’s Greatest Dad (WGD) is Gradient’s first title to be completed in its new Digital Intermediate suite. Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, WGD’s visual effects were produced by Mark Kolpack, conformed by Peter Flack and the picture was colored by Paul Bronkar who recently completed final color on Disney’s smash hit, Bolt.

“I really feel that all the guys working with me at Gradient are improving this movie. Plus they’re nice and they smell good. I couldn’t be happier,” said Bobcat Goldthwait. WGD’s producer Howard Gertler added, “For the director and DP, they were able to clearly and beautifully translate their creative needs for the film’s look.”

Gradient founder Olcun Tan noted, “We offer a service rarely found at a boutique visual effects house, where we can do the effects and D.I. in a closed loop environment and serve as a one-stop shop for filmmakers.” Co-founder Thomas Tannenberger concurred, adding, “We’re gratified to see our work in films of the caliber required to screen at Sundance.”

The Informers, directed by Gregor Jordan and starring Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke, premieres Thursday, January 22nd at 9:30 p.m. at the Eccles Theatre in Park City, Utah, with more screenings scheduled at other venues through January 24th.

World’s Greatest Dad, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait and starring Robin Williams, premieres Sunday, January 18th at 5:30 p.m. at Library Center Theatre in Park City, Utah. Subsequent screenings are scheduled through January 24th at various venues.
