Macworld Conference & Expo 2009

On Friday, hardware and software manufacturer Axiotron® concluded its appearance at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, California, where it unveiled the Modbook® Pro, the world’s fastest and largest-screen tablet computer, along with Axiotron’s revolutionary new Synergy™ Touch technology and the company’s new handwriting recognition software, Quickscript™. Axiotron also showcased the improved and enhanced Modbook, its award-winning tablet Mac® solution.

On hand at Axiotron’s booth was Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple® Computer (now Apple Inc.), developer of the legendary Apple I and Apple II personal computers and a member of Axiotron’s Board of Advisers. Mr. Wozniak introduced Axiotron’s Quickscript application for handwriting recognition, and also discussed Kopernikus™, the Quickscript-based project on which he has been advising Axiotron that offers system command and control via recognition of written text and gestures.

Axiotron’s Macworld booth featured artists, designers and software representatives who demonstrated the Modbook’s broad range of application functionality in on-stage presentations and at numerous interactive stations. Booth attendees won prizes, including brand new Modbooks, at daily booth raffles.

Axiotron’s newly unveiled Modbook Pro — an aftermarket modification of the unibody 15.4-inch Apple MacBook® Pro computer — was awarded “Best of Show” by MacTech/Macsimum News. Within its sleek black luster enclosure made from precision-machined aluminum, the Modbook Pro has a 15.4-inch pen-enabled display and paper-emulating ForceGlass™ screen that are flush-mounted in the top bezel to maximize on-screen workspace. The Modbook Pro offers up to a 2.8GHz Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, up to 320GB of storage on a 7200-rpm hard drive or 128GB of storage on a solid-state drive, and an NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT graphics subsystem. Additionally, consumers can order their Modbook Pro with a partitioned drive preinstalled with Windows Vista® Business Edition.

During the Macworld show, Axiotron introduced its revolutionary new Synergy Touch technology, which provides touchscreen functionality designed to primarily support pen input. Synergy Touch comes standard on the Modbook Pro, and is available for pre-order as an option for the Modbook. Synergy’s user interface, Quicktouch™, appears as translucent overlays of buttons and pads on the screen, permitting users to press modifier keys or pan screen content with their fingers while simultaneously drawing or writing with the digitizer pen. Quicktouch is a part of the Quickapps™ suite that comes standard with the Modbook and the Modbook Pro. In addition to Quicktouch and Quickscript, this suite includes Quickclicks™ (on-screen software keyboard and shortcuts) and, available exclusively on the Modbook Pro, Quickflip (screen rotation utility for landscape and portrait mode).

Every Modbook and Modbook Pro comes with Axiotron’s one-year Modcare® Hardware Warranty, which replaces the voided Apple warranty on the MacBook and MacBook Pro base system and covers the complete Axiotron Modbook and Modbook Pro hardware solution top to bottom.

The Modbook is shipping now and the Modbook Pro is scheduled to ship in May/June 2009.
