Nuvont Communications to Serve Residential VoIP and Internet Customers on UTOPIA Fiber-Optic Network

The Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency (“UTOPIA”) announced that Nuvont Communications will continue to offer broadband Internet and VoIP services on UTOPIA’s Open Service Provider Model network.

“Nuvont’s strategic decision to remain as an independent service provider on UTOPIA and other open networks provides further validation of the Open Service Provider Model,” said Todd Marriott, CEO of UTOPIA. “Nuvont is a values-driven and customer-focused company with a track record of strong sales. Their expanded presence on UTOPIA’s ultra-broadband fiber-optic network broadens the range of service provider choices available to UTOPIA households,” he added.

In 2008, Nuvont had considered a potential merger with Broadweave Networks, who acquired the iProvo municipal fiber-optic network in Provo, Utah.

“Retaining our independence allows Nuvont to continue to provide competitive pricing, technical quality and caring customer service for families who have connected to the UTOPIA and other open networks,” said Nuvont CEO Brandon Grover. “We plan to aggressively market our residential services to build on our customer base in UTOPIA cities.”
