25 Year Gaming Industry Veteran Now Leading Class III Sales Efforts
Gaming technology developer and distributor Multimedia Games Inc. (NASDAQ: MGAM) (“Multimedia”) today announced that Mick Roemer, 56, has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales at the Company. Mr. Roemer will report directly to Multimedia President and CEO Anthony Sanfilippo.
With the addition of Mr. Roemer, who brings more than 25 years of gaming equipment sales and marketing experience to the Company, Multimedia Games continues to add significant gaming industry experience to its senior management team. Since 2007, Mr. Roemer has consulted with gaming companies in the areas of game content, intellectual property, and sales and marketing planning, and has worked in an advisory capacity with Multimedia since May of 2008 in support of the Company’s efforts to expand its penetration in Class III gaming. Prior to 2007, he served as Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Product Development for Bally Technologies, contributing to Bally’s significant increase in market share with gaming units shipped growing from fewer than 9,000 units in 2000 to more than 22,000 units in 2007. Roemer also previously served as Vice President of Marketing for International Gaming Technologies (IGT), Vice President of Sales for Powerhouse/VLC and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Anchor Gaming.
In his new position at Multimedia Games, Mr. Roemer will expand and manage initiatives, which he began several months ago as a Company consultant, to guide Multimedia’s move into the Class III markets. He will simultaneously build a new sales organization and support Multimedia’s strategy to become licensed and operating in several new Class III gaming jurisdictions. In addition, he will oversee Multimedia’s integration of its systems business and IP (player tracking, Casino Commander, slot management and kiosks) into its overall sales strategies. Mr. Roemer will be a key contributor to the preparation of an annual Product Development Plan driven by informed, consumer-focused methodologies.
Mr. Sanfilippo commented, “Mick Roemer is an important, strategic addition to our leadership team. Mick brings significant, relevant experience from several industry leaders where, in each case, he played a role in expanding market share and the prominence of their product offerings. We look forward to the benefit of his significant Class III experience and industry relationships. His leadership skills and role as an industry innovator will drive our Class III strategy of marketing a targeted portfolio of niche games and top performers to capitalize on small- and mid-market opportunities.
“As a Company consultant since May 2008, Mick has already been instrumental in developing Multimedia’s previously disclosed plans for leveraging our strengths as we address the Class III market. We plan to build upon the Company’s initial Class III successes in Rhode Island and Oklahoma where our high definition gaming cabinet, low denomination games have consistently out-performed floor averages. Our Community Gaming products, including Sport of Kings, where players compete in a common bonus event, have been well received by the industry with strong reviews at the 2008 G2E trade show and, the Tournament features of our Casino Commander Game Management System allow real-time conversion from in-revenue units to tournament play and quickly and accurately facilitate player enrollment and reporting processes.”
Mr. Roemer commented, “I’ve followed Multimedia Games for several years before becoming actively involved as a consultant to the Company last year, and strongly believe that Multimedia has tremendous potential to increase its presence in Class III casinos based on its solid initial lineup of proprietary games, the attractive Player HD gaming platform, its unique server-based system products and the new product development and sales and marketing focus now being effected. In addition to the Company’s unique product capabilities, under Anthony’s leadership, Multimedia Games has been reinvigorated with proven gaming industry executives and new hires which together have quickly coalesced to form a foundation with the singular goal of executing on the exciting opportunities which have been identified. I am pleased to join Anthony and his team at this point in the Company’s development and look forward to an exciting future with Multimedia.”
Mr. Sanfilippo concluded, “Mick will play a major role in implementing Multimedia’s strategy of focusing product development and sales efforts on underserved areas of the casino floor with creative and innovative products. We are confident in this strategy, because in our industry, innovation and good performance is typically rewarded with floor space.”
Mr. Roemer is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing.
