Fox Soccer Channel scored its highest-rated telecast from England’s Barclay’s Premier League on the biggest sports viewing day of the year this past Sunday, Feb. 1, during the Liverpool vs. Chelsea match, making FSC the second most watched cable sports channel in the coveted male demographic during the time slot.
During the 11 a.m. ET telecast of Liverpool’s 2-0 victory, Fox Soccer Channel averaged a 0.46 household coverage rating, drawing in a record-breaking 0.72 rating against men 25-54, 0.68 against men 18-49 and a 0.41 against men 18-34. The match bested top sports cable providers including the NFL Network, Spike TV, ESPN News and ESPN 2 in the same time slot. All told, the match attracted 230,000 total viewers nationwide.
Since Fox Soccer Channel became a Nielsen rated network on Oct. 1, 2008, it has earned strong ratings for numerous Premiership matches, including a 0.43 household rating for Manchester United vs. Chelsea on Jan. 11, 2009 and a 0.39 household rating for Manchester United vs. Sunderland on Dec. 6, 2008.
