Stankey Kicks Off World Class Lineup of Keynote Speakers from the Global Broadband Industry
SUPERCOMM 2009
SUPERCOMM organizers today announced that John T. Stankey, President and CEO of AT&T Operations, will kick-off SUPERCOMM 2009 with the opening keynote on Wednesday, June 10. Mr. Stankey’s nearly 30 years of experience has helped him to position AT&T as a leader in the telecom industry, including the company’s world-class, integrated network spanning six continents with 879,000 fiber optic route miles, 3,800 MPLS nodes in 144 countries, and carrying more than 17 petabytes of data traffic every day.
“After years of talk, the integration of IP-based networks, devices and applications is becoming a reality today,” said Mr. Stankey. “AT&T has built an application-centric network, with the raw broadband capacity and supporting infrastructure to support and enable a full range of applications, delivered more and more seamlessly between mobile and fixed environments.
“To fully realize the potential of this application-focused environment, the industry must develop deeper and broader ecosystems among carriers, equipment and device manufacturers and developers,” Mr. Stankey said. “I look forward to the opportunity to discuss and advance these opportunities at SUPERCOMM.”
SUPERCOMM, the annual international broadband event for a new industry, a new economy and a new world of communications, is being held June 8-11, 2009 in Chicago at McCormick Place.
Mr. Stankey is responsible for AT&T’s research and development, architecture and planning, engineering, network operations, information technology and corporate shared services.
“SUPERCOMM 2009 will host the top executives from the world’s leading integrated service providers and technology developers, and we are thrilled to add Mr. Stankey to such an impressive lineup,” said Jim Forlenza, executive director of SUPERCOMM. “Mr. Stankey will address new corporate strategic directions, new partnerships, new technologies driving the innovation of networks and services, and the new competitive developments that keep the industry thriving.”
Mr. Stankey earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 1985 and a master’s degree in business administration from UCLA in 1991.
