Wintegra Announces Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Conformance Testing Compliance

Second Generation WinPath Family Achieves Industry MEF 9 Certification for Ethernet to Ethernet Applications

Wintegra announced today at the MPLS and Ethernet World Congress that its WinPath2 Carrier Ethernet silicon and software running on its hardware development system has achieved MEF 9 compliance. This compliance assures Wintegra customers that the available silicon and software suite complies with MEF specifications, supporting recognized industry interoperability standards. Wintegra is one of a very few semiconductor companies to undergo and achieve MEF 9 compliance.

Wintegra’s WinPath2 family of products are not only compliant, but they are also shipping today in Tier 1 Carrier Ethernet Access platforms in configurations using the device’s support for Gigabit Ethernet, as well as Fast (100 Mb) Ethernet. Besides Ethernet-to-Ethernet compliance, WinPath2 family devices have begun production in Tier 1 platforms that have been certified MEF 18 compliant (T1/E1 circuit emulation over Carrier Ethernet).

Because MEF certification provides a catalyst for vendors to accelerate the deployment of carrier ethernet technology, Wintegra’s newly announced WinIP3 Next Generation Carrier Ethernet processor will also be tested for MEF compliance in the future. WinIP3 supports Ethernet ports from 100 Mb up to 10 Gigabits/second.
