Integration of Company’s Handset Transfer Solution with mce’s mce100 Transfer for PCs Solution Expands Consumer Retail Reach for FusionOne
Mobile World Congress 2009
FusionOne, a leading provider of mobile phone content portability services, today announced that it has partnered with mce Systems, a leading provider of PC-based solutions for transferring mobile content, to integrate FusionOne’s Handset Transfer Solution with mce100, mce’s cable-based data transfer solution for mobile phone stores. As a result of this integration, consumers repairing or replacing their mobile phones will be able to transfer their personal and licensed content.
mce100 was designed to suit the special needs of mobile retail stores and repair facilities. It is an advanced PC-based solution that automatically transfers contacts, photos, videos, ringtones, and music between two mobile devices, and can backup mobile content to a hard drive. mce100 is the world’s first cable-based system featuring real “One Click” operation and automatic device detection. The solution enables easy, dependable upgrades, backups, and the restoration of a customer’s mobile device content.
FusionOne’s Handset Transfer Solution is the first mobile content portability service that legally supports the transfer of licensed and purchased content. The Handset Transfer Solution manages and transfers content from one mobile phone to another, ensuring the seamless migration of subscribers’ licensed and personal content when switching from one mobile device to another. After the transfer is complete, the Handset Transfer Solution can remain on the handset and continue to provide over-the-air-based protection to mobile users, ensuring mobile content portability.
“We are no longer just selling a mobile software service; we are solving a common issue that consumers face during handset repair or replacement,” said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing for FusionOne. “We are pleased to be part of that solution, and we look forward to working closely with mce Systems to directly benefit mobile consumers.”
“mce is pleased to partner with FusionOne to provide a complete backup and data transfer solution. With its support for licensed content transfer, the Handset Transfer Solution helps us fulfill that need,” said Yuval Blumental, CEO of mce Systems.
According to a study by independent research house Coleman Parkes, seventy-eight percent (78%) of consumers say that they are worried about losing mobile data when changing handsets. Ninety-six percent (96%) see value in a service that automatically moves numbers, content and other data from an old handset to a new one. The combination of FusionOne’s licensed content transfer in conjunction with mce Systems’ cable transfer system provides a comprehensive mobile transfer solution that will alleviate these concerns directly at the store.
FusionOne will be demonstrating the joint solution at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from February 16-19, 2009. For more information, contact FusionOne or visit the FusionOne booth located in exhibit stand 7D60 during the GSMA Mobile World Congress.
