Integration of Handset Transfer Solution with Susteen’s Mobile Genie Provides Added Reach for FusionOne at the Retail Level
Mobile World Congress 2009
FusionOne, leading provider of mobile phone content portability services, today announced that it has partnered with Susteen, a leading international content transfer provider specializing in the area of data communications and mobile computing, to integrate FusionOne’s Handset Transfer Solution product with Susteen’s Mobile Genie in-store cable-based data transfer solution. As a result of this integration, consumers purchasing a new mobile phone from any cellular store using Mobile Genie will be able to transfer their content from their old phone to their new phone and install the MightyBackup application at the point of sale.
Mobile Genie is a touch screen Wi-Fi UMPC standalone device that enables mobile content backup and transfer from phone to phone, right at the retail location, regardless of the phone make, model, or mobile operator. Mobile Genie, which supports over 1,000 different phone models, can transfer content such as contacts, tasks, ringtones, music, wallpapers, pictures, videos and SMS. Mobile Genie also allows the mobile content to be backed up to a USB drive and/or web server for simple management and retrieval. The Mobile Genie solution can be easily integrated with mobile content providers to expand content distribution and reach at a cellular store location in a controlled environment.
The Handset Transfer Solution rounds out the content transfer process by managing and transferring licensed content from one mobile phone to another, ensuring the seamless migration of subscribers’ licensed content when switching from one mobile device to another. It also allows the operators to make subscription-based revenue by providing over-the-air-based backup to their customers.
“Susteen is pleased to partner with FusionOne to provide cellular stores with a comprehensive and well-rounded backup and data transfer solution. Susteen has been looking for ways to expand retailers’ opportunity to generate additional revenues using Mobile Genie as a distribution platform. FusionOne’s Handset Transfer Solution is a natural fit in our product strategy,” said Hiroyuki Maruyama, CEO of Susteen.
According to FusionOne market research, 43 percent of mobile phone users delay upgrading their phones because of the hassle involved with transferring their licensed and other personal content over to a new mobile phone. Offering FusionOne’s mobile content transfer solution in conjunction with Susteen’s cable transfer solution will alleviate these concerns directly at the point of sale.
“Teaming up with Susteen enables FusionOne to reach the consumer directly, representing the next step in our evolution as a company,” said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing for FusionOne. “We are no longer just selling a software service; we’re resolving a common challenge that consumers experience during handset upgrades or replacements. We are pleased to be part of the solution and we look forward to a long-standing partnership with Susteen.”
FusionOne and Susteen will be demonstrating their joint solution at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from February 16-19, 2009. For more information, contact FusionOne or visit the FusionOne booth located in exhibit space 7D60 during the GSMA Mobile World Congress.
