Continuing to consolidate its core market strength in Latin American long distance markets, Next Communications, Inc. (“NEXT”) announced today that it has established a strategic alliance with ATSI Communicaciones S.A. de C.V., (“ATSI”), one of only seven telephone companies fully licensed to operate in Mexico. The strategic alliance will allow NEXT to offer its clients a more comprehensive suite of telephony services and to lower the wholesale rates NEXT can charge its clients for long distance calls terminated in Mexico.

In creating the strategic alliance, NEXT Chairman and CEO Arik Meimoun, a seasoned telephony veteran, along with Mexican industrialist Gustavo Jimenez Pons, each acquired ownership interests in ATSI. This new relationship benefits NEXT in the U.S. and ATSI in Mexico.

Mr. Meimoun stated, “NEXT will benefit by gaining direct interconnection into Mexico through ATSI and its relationship with Telmex, with the result that NEXT will be able to offer its substantial client base lower rates to Mexico.” Mr. Pons added that “ATSI will immediately benefit not only from Mr. Meimoun’s vast experience in telecommunications but also from NEXT’s delivery to ATSI of the approximately 300 million minutes per month of international long distance traffic NEXT currently transmits to Mexico.” Mr. Meimoun further stated that, as one of the terms of the strategic alliance, NEXT will make its proprietary state-of-the-art switchless technology available to ATSI. According to industry experts, the technology, which NEXT developed in conjunction with Cisco Systems, is expected to become the industry’s technology standard in the near future.

Next Communications, Inc. is a Delaware corporation headquartered in Miami, Florida.
