The Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency (“UTOPIA”) today initiated 100+ Mbps digital services to municipal facilities in Brigham City, Utah. Residential and business services are now being offered in selected areas of the city.

“Brigham City was a founding member of the UTOPIA open-access network because we realized that world-class digital connectivity is essential to our economic competitiveness, and the incumbent networks were not motivated to provide it,” said Lou Ann Christensen, Mayor of Brigham City. “We are excited that businesses and residences in Brigham City can at last begin taking advantage of the true broadband connections powered by UTOPIA,” she added.

At a ribbon cutting event in Brigham City, Todd Marriott, Executive Director of UTOPIA, said, “We are thrilled to light up one of the northern-most cities in the UTOPIA network, providing Brigham City the competitive advantage of nation’s largest municipal open-access fiber network.”
