Leveraging advanced online video technology from Ooyala, the London Symphony Orchestra is launching a series of online video trailers and interview excerpts from acclaimed composer John Williams. The video content will help promote a much anticipated film and music event, “The LSO, A Life in Film, ” which will take place in London on April 4th, 2009. Other famous composers such as James Horner, who wrote the music for the film Braveheart, will help supplement this special edition, online video series.
Shown on the Web via the Ooyala Video Player, Williams talks about his decades-long work with the Orchestra. Star Wars, Superman, and Raiders of the Lost Ark are among the film scores in his repertoire. Since soft-launching the videos on http://lso.co.uk, Williams’s debut trailer quickly became the most watched video on the site, according to online video performance metrics gathered using Backlot Analytics, an advanced component of the online video platform provided by video technology company, Ooyala.
Videos shown on the site are produced and shot by London based RedTedFilms. The Orchestra’s large video archive is managed by LSO staffers using Backlot, Ooyala’s video platform. The LSO leverages Ooyala’s scalable, affordable video solution to transcode, publish, analyze, and monetize its world famous musical performances and recordings.
