Acquisition of Leading Fan Site Strengthens First on Mars’ Reach Among Internet TV Viewers

First on Mars, a personalized guide to network TV on the web, announced today that it has acquired PrisonBreakCrazy.com, a leading site for fans of the hit TV show Prison Break. PrisonBreakCrazy.com received more than 1,355,000 visits in 2008 and consistently ranks in the top 5 results for Google searches related to watching Prison Break episodes online.

“The acquisition of PrisonBreakCrazy.com gives First on Mars access to a vibrant community of fans around one of the top rated shows on television,” said First on Mars Founder and CEO Tuhin Roy. “Our soon to be launched First on Mars V2 is heavily focused on enabling fans to interact on FOM using popular social web tools and we look forward to introducing PrisonBreakCrazy visitors to those new features,” added Roy.

First on Mars is the first Internet application to apply successful personalization models to Internet TV. First on Mars enables users to build a personal guide to network TV by adding shows, networks and TV “moods” to their favorites. Each user’s guide is dynamically programmed based on these preferences.

“I’ve been watching this space for three years now and the minute I saw First on Mars, I knew these guys had the right model,” said PrisonBreakCrazy.com blogger and owner Israel Lagares. “I am very pleased to be working with FOM to grow their audience through deeper connections with online fan communities,” added Lagares.

The deal also includes WatchLostandHeroes.com, a fan site related to the hit TV shows Lost and Heroes.

The acquisition was made with a combination of cash and stock at an undisclosed valuation.

First on Mars launched its personal guide to network TV in December 2008 and a set of upgraded features in January 2009. The service is free to consumers. The company filed a patent application covering its proprietary guide personalization technology in September 2008.
