“Less Carbon, More Jobs” grassroots campaign committed to developing and promoting energy saving technologies as public domain
Mountain View, CA – March 12, 2009 – GreenMaraschino (http://www.greenmaraschino.org), a California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, started the “Less Carbon, More Jobs” carbon awareness and ultra-low power technologies open source grassroots campaign today. According to GreenMaraschino’s mission statement, reduction of the Green House Gas CO2 (carbon dioxide) and the creation of new jobs can be accomplished in the near future if ultra-low power technologies are developed by the global community of volunteer experts. Increasing Carbon Dioxide exposure, caused by burning fossil fuels like oil, natural gas and coal, are believed to be responsible for global climate change.
GreenMaraschino is membership based, open to individuals and corporations. Greenmaraschino will also sell carbon offset products in order to increase public awareness on the impact of carbondioxide to the environment and the need for energy conserving technologies.
“In order to reduce carbon exposure worldwide, two major things have to happen. First, we must transition from fossil fuels to alternative renewable energy sources and second, we must dramatically reduce the need for electricity and develop ultra-low energy consuming technologies. GreenMaraschino is fully focused on the latter,” said Bob Smith, board member of GreenMaraschino.
GreenMaraschino is joining the open source movement to attract environmentally conscious volunteers and experts worldwide. Results will be shared with the public and available to any interested parties. GreenMaraschino will also proactively promote the rapid adoption of energy conserving technologies.
“Talk the talk, and walk the walk. We just can’t only rely on governments and large corporations when it comes to reducing carbon exposure. We, the worldwide community, need to take action. Utilizing the combined brain power of our members, GreenMaraschino will be able to develop revolutionary ultra-low power consuming technologies and launch them to market in a very short period of time. YES, WE CAN win the fight against global climate change. In light of a distressed global economy, new ultra-low energy consuming technologies will create millions of new jobs. A true win-win situation for everyone,” said Max Seybold, founder and board member of GreenMaraschino.
The first planned GreenMaraschino project is the continuation of the so-called HYPERCLOUD architecture, a next-generation personal computing and data-center operating environment originally designed and donated by Cherrypal that reduces power consumption by more than 90% compared to traditional systems.
Further projects are in consideration. Members will vote and decide on any future projects. The first member election/cast will take place Friday May 15, 2009.
