Comtrend Partners With Celeno To Deliver Faster, More Reliable IPTV

25th March, 2009, London – Comtrend Corporation (Comtrend) and Celeno Commuications (Celeno) today announced that Comtrend has selected Celeno’s High Definition (HD) Wi-Fi chipset for its next generation Wireless Video Adaptors. Available now, Comtrend’s Wireless Video Adaptors distribute multiple HD IPTV content streams from any Ethernet-enabled home gateway or set top box, providing fast and reliable in home coverage.

Comtrend’s Wireless Video Adaptors are designed to minimize support and installation costs. The network is easily configured and securely associated at the push of a button with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). This gives immediate access to the home network allowing subscribers to connect to multiple HD video sources (such as IPTV, Video-on-Demand, stored content on DVR) on TV screens all over the home.

Powered by the Celeno CL1300 silicon and OptimizAIR™ technology the Comtrend Wireless Video adapter employs interference reducing technologies providing a robust solution that leverages on the wide 5GHz spectrum to select the most appropriate available channels. With a special TDM-scheduled MAC, up to 4 TV screens can enjoy different and concurrent HD content streams with guaranteed quality of service.

The Comtrend devices have been designed to minimize environmental impact and comply with the European Code of Conduct on energy consumption for broadband equipment. Furthermore with the addition of Celeno’s Beam Forming MIMO technology, radiated energy levels are reduced to a fraction of those from alternative wireless solutions.
