Informa Selects Mentum Planet as Exclusive RF Planning Tool for its LTE Course Offering

Mentum Software and Geodata to Be Used in Informa Telecoms Academy LTE Radio Planning Professional Course

Gatineau, Que. & London – March 26, 2009 – Mentum®, a global leader in RF software planning solutions and Informa Telecoms Academy, the leading provider of high quality telecoms business and telecoms technology training, announced today that Mentum Planet® 5 for LTE (Long Term Evolution) will be used in Informa training classes. Informa Telecoms Academy will be using Mentum Planet exclusively for its new LTE Radio Planning Professional Course that will be delivered in international venues worldwide starting in May.

LTE is a 4G technology being standardized in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project’s Release 8, which is expected to be finalized later this year. As a result, LTE radio planning is a topic of interest for wireless operators and their RF engineering groups investigating their network evolution strategy.

The Informa Certified LTE Radio Planning Professional Course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of radio planning theory and practice, with the emphasis on LTE radio systems. The course includes a review of fundamental radio theory, OFDMA and SC-FDMA physical layers, as well as advanced antenna techniques used in LTE. Attendees of the course will apply the theoretical knowledge they acquire in a series of exercises and case studies using Mentum Planet 5 for LTE and Capesso™ by Symena. Participants attending the course will be in a better position to understand not only the technical processes of planning LTE networks but also the business case and investment required for deploying successful LTE networks.
