Microtune’s DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 3.0 RF products, integrated into consumer equipment, enable new cable offerings, including ultra-fast Internet, high-definition video downloads and commercial services

Plano, TX, April 1, 2009 – As an indicator of the accelerating growth of the worldwide DOCSIS®/EuroDOCSIS (TM) 3.0 market, Microtune, Inc.® (NASDAQ: TUNE) announced today that it has shipped more than one million MicroTuner (TM) MT2170 DOCSIS 3.0 wideband tuners. Leading cable equipment suppliers have built and certified their DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems, cable IP-TV set tops and high-end gateways around Microtune’s MT2170 wideband tuner. Microtune-based products have been deployed for high-speed DOCSIS 3.0/EuroDOCSIS 3.0 services that have launched in Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Innovative DOCSIS 3.0 solutions in production today, including those for ‘four by four’ and ‘eight by four’ downstream/upstream configurations, will be displayed this week in the booths of premier equipment suppliers at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s Cable Show, held in Washington D.C. (April 1-3, 2009).

“We are very excited to have surpassed our one-millionth DOCSIS 3.0 tuner shipment milestone, and we are pleased to support our customers as they drive the DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 3.0 market with worldwide deployments,” said James A. Fontaine, President and CEO of Microtune. “DOCSIS 3.0 is a key technology for the cable industry. It enables experience-enhancing, competitive subscriber services today, including ultra-high-speed Internet, streaming video and file sharing. At the same time, it provides the platform for future TV, web and voice cross-platform services. As an electronics supplier, we are committed to providing a portfolio of scalable RF technology that makes it easy for cable operators to deploy DOCSIS 3.0 broadly, flexibly and cost effectively.”

Mr. Fontaine provides additional comment on the DOCSIS 3.0 market and Microtune’s role as a key supplier in an interview available online.

“TI’s Puma 5 hardware and software solutions, combined with Microtune’s advanced RF technologies, have played a key role in the growth of the DOCSIS 3.0 market across new classes of cable modems, gateways and interactive set-top boxes,” said Ran Senderovitz, Texas Instruments’ Digital Connected Home business manager. “Our complementary products have enabled manufacturers to achieve certification and quickly deploy high-quality, cost-effective end-equipment in volume in regions around the world including North America, Europe, Asia and South America. We plan to move this collaboration into the next generation of DOCSIS 3.0 products by pioneering innovations that continue to optimize price/performance and advanced features.”
