AVINASH KADAM, OF INDIA, ELECTED INTERNATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT OF ISACA

New Delhi, India – 31 July 2006 — Avinash Kadam, CISA, CISM, CISSP, CBCP, GSEC, GCIH, was elected vice president of ISACA—a leading IT governance association with more than 50,000 members in 140 countries—during the organization’s annual meeting held in Adelaide, Australia, on 31 July 2006.

The nonprofit, independent ISACA administers the respected Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation, earned by more than 48,000 professionals since inception, and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designation, earned by more than 6,000 professionals since it was introduced in 2002.

Kadam is a director of MIEL e-Security Pvt. Ltd., a company focused on information security consultancy, implementation, audit and training. He has more than 35 years of experience in information technology and information security management. He has been responsible for successful completion of a number of information security consulting projects for large Indian and international organizations leading to BS 7799/ISO 27001 certifications. Kadam was president of the ISACA Mumbai Chapter from 1998 to 2000, an ISACA International K-Net Board Member from 2001to 2002, and a member of ISACA International Research Board from 2002 to 2004. He was awarded the Harold Weiss Award in June 2005, which recognizes dedication to the IS audit, control and security profession. Kadam has been teaching information security topics at the ISACA Mumbai Chapter’s CISA courses for the past 11 years and at the CISM courses for the past three years. He is also a Lead Instructor for ISC2 for its CISSP CBK review seminars, a Mentor for SANS – GSEC course, and a Lead Instructor for BS 7799/ISO 27001 Lead Auditor Course for Det Norske Veritas.

Kadam also assumes the role of vice president of ISACA’s research affiliate, the IT Governance Institute (ITGI). ITGI was established by ISACA in 1998 to help enterprise leaders ensure that IT supports the enterprise’s mission and goals. To accomplish this, ITGI conducts and publishes original research, most notably the internationally accepted COBIT framework for IT governance—a key tool for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance—and Val IT, a new IT investment framework supported by leading organizations including ING.

“The certifications, standards, training and research publications that ISACA and ITGI offer have earned them worldwide recognition as leaders in IT governance,” said Kadam. “It is an honor to help lead the organizations as they guide enterprises in improving IT control and optimizing return on their IT investments.”

In addition to Kadam, seven other IT professionals were elected to ISACA leadership positions. Johnson was reelected international president. Reelected as vice presidents were William C. Boni, CISM, corporate vice president and chief information security officer, Motorola Information Protection Services, USA; Jean-Louis Leignel, partner at MAGE Conseil, France; Lucio Augusto Molina Focazzio, CISA, IS auditing and security consultant and professor, Colombia; Howard Nicholson, CISA, business analyst, City of Salisbury, Australia; and Frank Yam, CISA, FHKCS, CIA, CFE, CCP, CFSA, FFA, chief executive officer, Focus Strategic Group and Handshake Networking Ltd., Hong Kong. Newly elected vice president was Georges Ataya, CISA, CISM, CISSP, professor, Solvay Business School, Belgium.
