“Edge of Love,” “Innocence” and “Tunnel” to debut on Eurocinema in 2009
Image Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:DISK), a leading independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Eurocinema, the video on-demand channel that offers a wide variety of foreign films to U.S. television audiences.
“Eurocinema is television’s home for international and European box office films, with movies from legendary directors and gems from the international film world,” said Steve Saltman, senior vice president of worldwide television for Image Entertainment. “We are pleased to have our films brought to Eurocinema’s audiences across the United States.”
“Eurocinema continues to search around the world to bring viewers the best selection of films on our channel,” said Sebastien Perioche, founder of Eurocinema. “Image Entertainment’s catalogue features some of cinema’s most coveted new titles featuring award-winning A-list actors and directors. We’re delighted to offer our audience Image’s exciting selections throughout 2009.”
Films set to debut on Eurocinema in 2009 include:
“Edge of Love” (UK): Starring Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Cillian Murphy, Matthew Rhys and directed by John Maybury. “Edge of Love” tells the story of two feisty, free-spirited women that are connected by the brilliant, charismatic poet Dylan Thomas.
“Innocence” (France): Starring Best Actress Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie En Rose”). Gushing water. Subterranean rumbling. Sun-dappled green vistas behind huge stone walls. So begins “Innocence,” a fascinating fable about a mysterious school for girls, where one arrives by coffin to a self-enclosed, highly regimented universe of botany classes, ballet and playtime.
“The Tunnel” (Germany): Inch by harrowing inch, this all-star cast includes Heino Ferch (“Seagull’s Laughter,” “Downfall”), Sebastian Koch (“Lives of Others,” “The Black Book”) and Alexandra Maria Lara (“Downfall,” “The Reader”). “The Tunnel” tells the incredible true story of a massive underground escape attempt from East to West Berlin.
“Kick ‘n Rush” (Denmark): Starring Jacob Krarup and Cyron Bjørn Melville, this riveting coming-of-age film from celebrated Danish filmmaker Aage Rais-Nordentoft tells the story of Jakob, Bo and Mikkel, all of whom share a passion for soccer, girls and petty vandalism.
“Evil Aliens” (United Kingdom): A film festival hit around the world, including the British Film Festival (Israel), Brussels Film Festival, Cinenyma Lux (Luxembourg), Eerie Fest (Erie, PA), Fantasia Film Festival (Montreal), Fantastic Film Festival (Germany), FrightFest (UK), Idaho Film Festival, Philadelphia Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival (UK), San Francisco Film Festival, San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival. If you thought you’d seen it all, brace yourself for this jaw-dropping slice of sci-fi horror lunacy that has audiences rolling and gagging in the aisles.
Additional titles include “My Brother is an Only Child” (Italy), “Mala Uva” (Spain), “Gente Pez” (Spain) and “Slim Sussie” (Sweden).
