NAB2009
Broadcast International (OTCBB:BCST) (”BI”) today announced it will introduce its new CA-20 CodecSys Accelerator card at the NAB trade show in Las Vegas. The CA-20 facilitates the implementation of cost-effective real-time professional broadcast quality HD encoding on standard multi-core processing platforms.
The CA-20 off-loads many of the peripheral processing functions common to all video encoding applications leaving the host processor(s) free to perform the critical video encoding task. This results in a highly flexible software-based encoding platform capable of supporting a wide variety of video and audio codecs. As new codecs are needed or improved versions of existing codecs are released, they can easily be installed on the existing hardware platform.
“The CA-20 CodecSys Accelerator card provides a substantial platform enhancement for dynamic software solutions,” said Rod Tiede, president & CEO of Broadcast International. “With the CA-20, video encoding efficiency and effectiveness are increased resulting in a lower cost-per-channel solution.”
CA-20 Technical Features:
The CA-20 is a dual channel, full length, PCIe compliant accelerator card capable of processing two high definition video programs. The card features:
Dual inputs configurable as either HD-SDI/SDI inputs for digital video, embedded audio, and ancillary data or DVB-ASI inputs for MPEG2 transport streams.
Advanced video pre-processing features, including resolution scaling, de-interlacing, inverse telecine processing, spatial and temporal filtering, and color space conversion.
Audio pre-processing features include leveling and sample rate conversion.
Two 6-Channel DSPs for audio encoding capable of supporting a variety of audio codecs including: MPEG 1 Layer 2, MPEG4 AAC, and AC-3 (ATSC A/52).
Captioning & ancillary data support for EIA-608B and EIA-708B, along with DVB subtitling, and MPE data.
Transport post-processing including program stream multiplexing, PSI table generation, and transport packetization.
Dual outputs configurable as HD-SDI/SDI pass thru outputs or DVB-ASI outputs for MPEG2 transport streams.
Broadcast International will be demonstrating the CA-20 CodecSys Accelerator at NAB in booth #SU 4326 at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 20-23. For more information or to schedule a demonstration, please contact Jeremy Kartchner at jeremy {at} snappconner(.)com or 801-703-4092.
