Video-Based Recruiting Tool Set to Revolutionize the College Admissions Process
MyBioFlick, a new application built on Facebook® Platform that enables colleges to recruit new students based upon online videos (‘bios’) that highlight their extracurricular activities, today announced its official launch. MyBioFlick represents a revolutionary new approach to college recruitment practices by providing colleges with access to high school talent around the world that can help them meet their class recruitment objectives.
Replacing the conventional use of a high school ‘highlight’ tape, high school students can utilize the free online video service to showcase the skills and talents that make them more interesting candidates for admission. Essentially acting as its own search engine, MyBioFlick provides a centralized database that serves as a recruiting pool for colleges, universities and trade schools, allowing college admissions officers, department heads and coaches the ability to log in and search for potential student recruits based upon their specific needs or targets, whether that be a nursing student, a soccer player or a clarinetist for the band.
“MyBioFlick is a superior recruiting approach that replaces the traditional technique of direct mail, billboards, radio and college fairs,” said Johnny Majors, former head football coach at the University of Tennessee and University of Pittsburgh, and current MyBioFlick spokesman. “The application will allow admissions officers to connect with students out of state or even internationally, and provides a means for admissions to increase the enrollment diversity of their programs.”
In addition, the application serves as a research tool for students to identify, and have unparalleled access to, admissions officers and coaches at schools they might not have originally considered. With the average cost of a four-year college now at $34,700 per year, MyBioFlick’s management team anticipates expanding the site to also help connect eligible students with some of the estimated $90 billion in available scholarships and financial aid each year. Furthermore, MyBioFlick will award scholarship funds every 30 days to the top three rated videos.
The MyBioFlick application is particularly effective for colleges looking to fill specific or ‘niche’ needs, areas that are difficult to fill or scholarship programs that are challenging to manage. Universities, colleges, trade schools and eventually prep school academies are listed for free, with additional opportunities to promote the college or specific area of interest or need through a subscription fee.
“Our students find the college application process confusing, complicated and void of one comprehensive internet site,” said Cathy Curtis, international student counselor for The American School in Thailand. “Once MyBioFlick has their scholarship option completed, it will be the only site we will need to satisfy all of our requirements and should dominate international college recruiting.”
Interested colleges can find more information, as well as sign up via www.mybioflick.com. Interested students can register and customize their own MyBioFlick page through the Facebook application (www.facebook.com). MyBioFlick’s video carousel and messaging systems are unique components of the service, and provide the student user a means of displaying their talents and reaching colleges by leveraging today’s latest social media technology.
MyBioFlick functions independently within Facebook Platform, meaning user content remains self contained, and users’ Facebook profiles do not become accessible to universities or other outside sources by using this application. More information is currently under development regarding available scholarship funds and scholarship programs seeking students, and users can expect this information to become accessible through the site soon. MyBioFlick is currently in its second phase of funding.
Additional Quotes:
“We’ve already begun using MyBioFlick to recruit rugby talent on an international level, with specific focus given to Canada and Australia,” said Scott Stewart, UCLA rugby coach. “MyBioFlick provides us with unparalleled and direct access to these international candidates.”
“We have developed a unique distribution channel that turns the recruiting process from a passive system, where colleges sit and wait to see who applies, to a more active process where colleges can find interested and qualified students through their activities,” said Bob Slane, CEO and Founder of MyBioFlick.
