Centralised network solution from Network SI and TFM Networks improves productivity and supports business consolidation

15 April, 2009 – Leading print finisher Celloglas has embarked on a major virtualisation project, opting for a centralised hosted network to streamline IT management and halve telecoms costs.

A centralised IT and telecoms infrastructure has been deployed across the company’s five UK sites, providing a managed multi-application network to meet evolving business needs more cost-effectively.

The outsourced managed service has enabled Celloglas to realise significant cost savings, cutting its telecoms costs by 50%, reducing the number of IT suppliers from three to one, and removing the need for in-house IT staff. The company expects the network to pay for itself within two years.

Deployed and managed by network operator TFM Networks and managed network provider Network SI, the network hosts job management, sales order processing, invoicing and group finance applications centrally, accessible remotely at a site level through Citrix desktop management systems. This has removed the need for individual networks at each site.

Celloglas previously had three IT suppliers and two in-house members of staff dedicated to network management, and the decision to outsource IT management was a key element of the group’s consolidation strategy.

The migration process has reduced the number of servers used from 15 to just six, cutting hardware expenditure for the company. To further control project costs, TFM Networks and Network SI re-used existing hardware during the migration process.

Uncontended high-speed business broadband over Tiscali’s LLU platform ensures optimum business productivity and gives Celloglas the ability to run all business applications over a single centralised network. ADSL back-up ensures effective business continuity in any eventuality.

Peter Clayton, finance director at Celloglas said: “The financial and operational business case for a managed IT service is a compelling one. Network SI and TFM Networks have halved our telecoms costs and have reduced hardware expenditure and management overheads. In addition, overall productivity is up, there is less downtime, and any issues are resolved more quickly.”

Julie Cox, business analyst at Celloglas added: “A managed end-to-end service has given us a more robust and reliable network. Previously we had a disconnect between multiple external suppliers and our own internal IT staff, whereas now we have a single point of contact, and the reassurance of timely, professional support.

“Network SI also hosts our first-call helpdesk for us, ensuring a consistent response within the four-hour service level agreement, and allowing internal staff to focus on strategic issues rather than fighting fires.”

Network SI and TFM Networks are responsible for the management, security and maintenance of the company’s hardware and of its IT network. The managed service approach has given Celloglas the advantage of a single service level agreement, a single invoice for IT, telecoms and maintenance and a single point of contact.
