Ooyala CEO Bismarck Lepe Named Among Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs by BusinessWeek

Ooyala CEO, Bismarck Lepe has been named among America’s Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs of 2009 by BusinessWeek magazine. The annual listing is comprised of a select group of individuals under the age of 30 who lead the most promising technology startups.

Ooyala, the company that Lepe (age 29), the son of Mexican-American migrant farmworkers, co-founded with his former Stanford dorm mate, Sean Knapp (age 28) and brother Belsasar Lepe (age 22), is one of the 20 companies featured on BusinessWeek.com. Founded in April 2007, Ooyala is a video technology company that provides online video publishing and monetization tools. In two years, the company has built a customer portfolio that includes large media companies such as Bebo, Electronic Arts, Warner Brothers, TVGuide, Joost, Slide, and IMG as well as hundreds of small and medium web video businesses. Ooyala, backed by Sierra Ventures and private investors, expects to reach profitability this summer.

According to BusinessWeek, the list of finalists were selected from readers, the investment community, and BusinessWeek’s editors and tech writers.
