Music fans looking for that one-of-a-kind Mother’s Day gift can now ponder ‘Maybe California’ as a special ‘thank you’ for moms, delivered by acclaimed singer/songwriter Tori Amos. The pioneering star is partnering with AOL to premiere her song, video, and ring tone, “Maybe California” – from her upcoming new album ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN – as a gift from ‘a mother to a mother,’ exclusively conceived from Tori herself: “Even the most giving person needs a gift once in a while,” stated Tori. “There are people in our lives, we all know them, who are able to give even in the darkest of times. By giving they sustain this magical light. We want them to know that they are seen and appreciated. “Maybe California” is my gift to them.”
AOL Music’s tastemaker site Spinner.com will be premiering the song, video and Mother’s Day ‘Giveaway Page’ beginning on Monday, April 27. Fans can log on to http://music.aol.com to catch their first glimpse of the inspiring offering or visit a host of other participating sites kicking off on Mother’s Day, May 10. Tori has even penned her own special inscription to fans accessing the special Giveaway via the multiple sites.
Recognized as a trailblazing artist whose creative vision continues to break new ground, Tori’s Universal Republic debut album, ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN, (scheduled for release on May 19), is the searing follow-up to her acclaimed 2007 release, American Doll Posse, a 23-track opus hailed by critics as haunting musical portraiture delivered from multiple female perspectives. The new album continues Tori’s thematic exploration of women and power via the relevant “Maybe California” and other songs, including “Curtain Call,” “Mary Jane,” and the first single “Welcome To England.”
Tori has also recently launched and exclusive iTunes promotion which enables fans who pre-order the deluxe version of her upcoming album, ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN, to receive a unique password giving them access to participate in an upcoming exclusive ticket pre-sale at Ticketmaster.com. The pre-sale will be live May 28th at 10:00 AM through May 29th at 10:00 PM, local time, and will provide those fans the opportunity to purchase from a limited number of tickets for select dates on Tori’s upcoming tour, before they go on sale to the general public on May 30th.
A host of other exclusive giveaway components will also be made available to fans who pre-order the deluxe version of the new album, including a download of the first single from the album, “Welcome To England.” Participating fans will also be granted a special pre-order only video interview with Amos on the day of the album’s nationwide release, May 19.
Additionally, the deluxe version will include a digital booklet, a rare bonus track, and 16 bonus video visualettes that correspond with each of the album’s tracks.
Produced by Tori, ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN features longtime contributors Matt Chamberlain on drums, Jon Evans on bass, and Mac Aladdin on guitars. Once again Tori is joined in the studio by Mark Hawley and Marcel Van Limbeek who recorded and mixed the album at Martian Engineering in Cornwall, England. ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN is the singer’s tenth studio album, and is sure to be regarded by fans and critics as another innovative chapter in the artist’s trailblazing career.
For nearly two decades, Tori Amos’ stark lyrical flourishes and inspired musicianship have helped shape the musical landscape. Considered one of the most emotionally powerful live artists in music today, her most recent world tour which launched in the summer of 2007, was heralded by fans and critics alike. The BBC praised the album and tour for ‘returning Tori Amos back to the forefront of a genre she defined…still pushing her own boundaries.’
