Adobe Champions Art and Technology at ZeroOne San Jose Festival

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced details of its participation in ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge being held August 7-13 in conjunction with ISEA2006, the International Symposium on Electronic Art. As a leading corporate sponsor and sole sponsor of the art and technology festival’s education programs, Adobe is supporting the event with cash, in-kind donations and employee volunteerism. Adobe is also sponsoring ZeroOne’s Emerging Artist award being presented by Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen at the festival’s official Opening and Awards Ceremony.

Adobe’s education sponsorship covers a wide variety of programs for youth, families and educators, including: interactive walking tours; meet-the-artist sessions; sessions on how educators can incorporate ZeroOne San Jose art in their curriculum; and the Global Youth Lounge, an education space for young people and families to experience youth created digital art. Student winners of the Adobe Design Achievement Awards will be docents in the lounge and will mentor the youth, as well as show their own work.

The centerpiece of the Adobe sponsored education programs is the “Scenes and Sounds of My City” Project by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. This cultural and artistic exchange program brings together teen artists from around the world to create art based on sights and sounds experienced in their home cities. Ten Bay Area and 10 international youths have been chosen as Global Youth Ambassadors to ZeroOne San Jose. The Ambassadors will represent the project at ZeroOne San Jose, as well as participate in an art program at Adobe led by artist and arts educator Marisa Jahn and assistant artists/educators Rachel McIntire and Steve Shada. The Ambassadors’ week in San Jose will culminate in the “Scenes and Sounds of My City” Screening and Reception on August 13, where Melissa Dyrdahl, senior vice president of corporate marketing and communications at Adobe, will provide welcoming remarks and present awards.

“ZeroOne focuses on creativity and innovation, which is at the heart of what we do in Silicon Valley,” said Bruce Chizen, CEO of Adobe. “Adobe is committed to supporting education programs that enrich and inspire our youth and the cultural and community organizations that make this a vibrant place to live and work.”
