Freescale Names Dr. Reza Kazerounian as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Microcontroller Solutions Group

Freescale Semiconductor has named Dr. Reza Kazerounian as its new senior vice president and general manager of the Microcontroller Solutions Group (MSG).

“Reza brings with him a wealth of industry experience and expertise to Freescale,” said Rich Beyer, Freescale chairman and CEO. “He will be a great addition to the team as we sharpen our focus on our leadership positions in the automotive and industrial growth markets.”

Formerly president and CEO of STMicroelectronics Inc. Americas, Dr. Kazerounian helped STMicroelectronics grow its market share in the Americas region and expanded its revenue with key strategic customers and distributors. In addition, Dr. Kazerounian held leadership positions with STMicroelectronics smart card and programmable systems memory divisions. Previously, he was chief operating officer with WaferScale Integration, Inc., where he was responsible for all operations, engineering and product development. WaferScale was acquired by STMicroelectronics in September 2000.

Dr. Kazerounian received a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
