Live and Online Courses and Exams for Nuance Partners Provide Faster Time- to-Market, Increased Revenue and Customer Satisfaction

Burlington, Mass., May 06, 2009 – Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN), today announced the availability of a new technical certification program through Nuance Speech University. This program enables Nuance partners to deliver and support advanced enterprise solutions leveraging Nuance’s core products, and underscores Nuance’s ongoing commitment to partners. The first certification exam was recently held and Nuance is proud to announce that Avaya, Genesys, Intervoice/Convergys, Holly Connects and SwampFox now employ certified technicians.

Certification of individuals through Nuance Speech University provides a strategic opportunity to increase skill sets for installing, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting Nuance enterprise products. The course curriculum for obtaining Certification includes:

· Install and Configure Enterprise Foundation Technologies: Includes installation, configuration and basic troubleshooting guidelines for Nuance Recognizer v9, Nuance Speech Server, RealSpeak text-to-speech and the license manager.
· Technical Support for Enterprise Foundation Technologies: Offers extensive instruction on first level support for Nuance Recognizer v9, Nuance Speech Server, and RealSpeak TTS engine.

Nuance Speech University’s Technical Certification Program will increase customer confidence in a team’s ability to deliver the advanced solutions required to solve today’s business challenges. Nuance-certified technicians – Nuance Technical Associates – will have the foundation required to effectively install, configure and support Nuance products for enterprise deployments.
