Allison Iraheta Predicted as Next Cast-off By A Narrow Margin

Last week, a media analysis conducted by Biz360® Inc., the leading provider of media and market intelligence solutions predicted that Matt Girard would be the next contestant leaving the American Idol show. The analysis demonstrated a correlation between the low volume of social media conversation and the Idol with the lowest number of viewer votes.

This week Biz360 continued its analysis, which indicates a much tighter race then last week. The amount of conversation among the four remaining contestants has been much closer this week with the deviation of coverage between Danny, Kris and Allison within 1-2 percentage points of each other.

At the time of this release, Allison Iraheta had generated the lowest amount of social media coverage compared to the other remaining contestants. Further, she also generated the lowest amount of “positive to neutral” conversation than the others. Based on this information, Biz360 is predicting she will be the next contestant voted off the show.

The analysis indicates how advanced measurement techniques can quickly and efficiently gauge public opinion and provide key insights. Biz360’s Community Insights solution was used to examine social media coverage (including blogs, message boards, forums, micro-blogs, online news media and social networks) that mentioned each of the contestants in this week’s competition. Biz360 analyzed both the near real-time volume of the coverage as well as the tonality of the conversations (positive, neutral or negative).

“No matter which way the decision goes, the adoption rate of social media is now so broad and reflective of the population at large, it is becoming a barometer for consumer decision making,” says Tony Priore, chief marketing officer of Biz360. “This type of real-time intelligence is helping businesses expand their market research findings and gain actionable insights about specific brands, products and product features. We believe this type of information can also be leveraged across many product categories including the entertainment industry.”

Biz360 will continue to issue their prediction next week before the results show, to answer the question: Can social media buzz make American Idol predictions?
